For when the fire comes

I made a list of things I want to keep

in case there was a fire.

And as we know, fire always comes so when it does

I will throw these out the window

and meet them on the grass.

At least they will be safe.

I love you was cheap

and it was always the first thing that the liars said

So i love you is still sitting of the second floor,

gathering dust

But, I brought, you changed everything

and, I believe the things you say.

I couldn't decide to take,

I loved discovering you slowly each morning

or the way you chose your words perfectly puts my nerves at ease,

every time....

...so I took them both.

Of course I took, your voice is like music and you are honorable.

I laughed when I almost forgot I missed it when your beard was thick and woolly...

I smoothed the creases of I always wanted to take a long walk with you and listen to your memories.

You are my turning page I placed in a gold box, so I will never never forget.

I wrapped all these things in

purple silk cloth and blessing.

Tipped with gold,

it shone back at me like a key

so that if anybody found it

it would be returned..

It will be the pages of our map,

the bridge from you to me and back again.

The story of mending

and breaking

the one they promised.

I know because when I remember, I can see that it is the thing worth  saving when the fire comes.
