Release the bind
Release
the Bind
Steve is a middle-aged veteran in recovery for PTSD and
anger management. Conflict triggers audible hallucinations and flashbacks of
gunfire and helicopter sounds. He is committed
to his path of healing and living his authentic self. He loves motorcycles, AC/DC and has no
filter. In his pursuit to pay it forward he has earned his certification to
become a yoga teacher. But before he can even teach his first class an unlikely
turn of events has him guiding a weeklong yoga retreat in Mexico. His unconventional practice of HOT/ POWER
style yoga, inspired by his time in military bootcamp has the group in a huff!
7 yogis, who have a
strict adherence to traditional yogic practices, and the personas to
match. But Steve doesn’t buy it! His infectious humor and deep desire for
authenticity and healing have him pushing the group deeper into their poses and
breaking all the rules, both on the mat and beyond, to release them from all
the false binds they are held to deep inside.
It’s a war that aims straight for the heart and Steve is
just the hero for the mission!
-Miranda (38)-Soccer Mom-crippled by maintaining her image
on social media-wants to let go and live carelessly
--Dani (44)- Germaphobe and fear addict with covid trauma, a
fiery libido-Dani is weary of isolation. Suffering from deep "skin hunger" she wants to connect…in more ways than
one-think Melissa McCarthy
-Chuck (70)- Recovering alcoholic, estranged father from his
kids who are now adults who refuse to let him in their lives- wants to let go
of guilt and let the past die.
-Deandra (34)- A caretaker for her mother- wants to live her
own life- “Closeted” Lesbian
-Sandra (53)- Wife of a control freak-Timid, resigned to his
power- wants to be the woman she had hoped she would have been in her younger
days
-Dale (55)-A control freak- Wants to surrender, but
ultimately can’t-Dale rejects his chance to heal
-Hunter (31)- A vegan- (Closet Alpha Male who feels guilty
for his cis gendered whiteness) wants to embrace his taboo desire for older
women-Think Zac Effron
Each person experiences a transition in which Steve is pivotal. While battling his own personal demons of inadequacy
as a leader, Steve consciously challenges the 7 out of their comfort zone by
breaking all the yogi rules with his off brand bootcamp style of teaching. This
“trial by fire” approach continually pushes the gang out of their comfort zone
and reveals them for the messy, broken and honest bunch they are making room
for who they truly desire to become.
Ultimately, this is about shedding the false skins we wear,
uncovering men’s mental health crisis and using humor to showcase the joy of
diversity and a serendipitous connection we all have the potential to share if
we are willing to let go and get real!
