Saruma henryii
With a Sulphur light,
a seed impossible to sow.
While this is what he wanted though never told me so.
Emerging in the spring
unfurling with the spice of knuckled roots.
Lobey heart felt leaves.
I wanted you all over my garden.
So I stored your seed to have you for my own,
Cold and warm and cold again,
just the way you like.
Testing my skill for the craft, I waited each response
and learned to need you.
Lusting for your bright yellow splendor to need me back
Teach me how to love.
But your sprawling seeds sowed themselves beneath my stairs
carelessly between the cracks of the sidewalk soil...
was it only just to tease me?
My Saruma!
Wont you let me tend?
Whisper me the trick of you...
Do you mean to tell me you won't be cultivated?
