My Lanternman
I go with my lantern man.
He holds his precious light to my path,
the one that I must travel.
He dare not tell the way,
this road that I must take...
But he never leaves my side,
that my feet may never fail.
Down through hollow logs
and crisp autumn fields,
by waterside with tangled brambles,
beside mountains and graves stones of people long forgotten
we whisper a solemn prayer.
My lantern man walks beside me.
We hold branches for one another
and marvel at the moon.
The stillness consumes us both while we walk inside it
into the belly of the unknown.
I go with my lantern man
He holds his precious light to my path,
the one that I must travel.
He dare not tell the way,
this road that I must take...
But he never leaves my side, that my feet may never fail.
